Hillcrest Cottage (southside accommodation) provides a self catering experience near Troon in Ayrshire, Scotland, offering privacy within the peaceful surroundings of the countryside away from busy roads for you to enjoy your break away. The cottage being conveniently positioned close to the town of Troon with all its amenities provides a beautiful country location within a 252 acre beef farm. There are open aspects to the front across the farm fields and hedgerows and views of the Heads of Ayr to the south. To the rear you will enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde to Arran. You can enjoy the company of the cattle during the spring and summer months who are always inquisitive to see who is willing to give them a pat. There are many hares around the farm and they are often seen bounding down the lane.
The cottage has been completely refurbished in 2010 to a high standard with comfort and homeliness in mind. All the modern conveniences you will require during your stay have been included. We continuously maintain the cottage to a high standard, all rooms have been freshly repainted this year and a new shower unit has also been fitted.
The cottage also has the advantage of being positioned within easy reach to all road and rail networks. We are situated only 5 minutes drive from Prestwick Airport and a 6 minute drive from Troon rail station. We are ideally situated for easy connection to major road networks to access South Ayrshire and Glasgow (40 mins), and a 20 minute car journey will take you to Ardrossan for the Ferry link to the Isle of Arran, this is an excellent day trip. There is ample car parking for 2 vehicles in the drive and further space for a vehicle in the garage. The garage offers storage for golf clubs, cycles etc.
The cottage is within easy reach of the Isle of Arran, Culzean Castle Country Park which is a National Trust Property, Burns Heritage Centre, Kelburn Country Park and Vikingar in Largs and the newly developed Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock.
The coastal town of Troon offers a variety of excellent tearooms and restaurants along with the more individual gift and clothing shops. For golfers there is no shortage of courses available with Royal Troon being the most well known hosting the 2016 Open, also several challenging municipal courses. Troon offers great walks along the beach or promenade as do the neighbouring towns of Barassie, Irvine and Prestwick.
